Fullbacks Continue String of Pro Bowl, Super Bowl Appearances

PRINCETON, N.J. -- For the third-straight season, Brown alumnus James Develin is Super Bowl bound as a member of the New England Patriots.

The fullback had a nine-yard reception in New England’s 37-31 overtime victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship to punch his ticket to his fourth Super Bowl appearance. On Sunday, Feb. 3, Develin will aim to become the first-ever Ivy to raise the Vince Lombardi Trophy three times as a player (XLIX, LI).

Since Columbia alum Robert Kraft bought the Patriots in 1994, the team has made the playoffs 18 times in 23 years and has represented the AFC in the Super Bowl on 10 occasions. The Patriots will meet the Los Angeles Rams—who needed overtime to defeat the New Orleans Saints, 26-23, in the NFC Championship—in Super Bowl LIII.

Prior to Super Bowl Sunday, Harvard alumnus and San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk will appear in his third-straight Pro Bowl on Sunday, Jan. 27. Juszczyk will be a starter in the annual affair following a 324-yard receiving campaign.
