Jonathan Schiller, Columbia

A three-year letterwinner for Columbia, Jonathan Schiller was a member of the 1967-68 Ivy League men’s basketball championship team, ranked fifth in the country, which was inducted into the Columbia University Athletic Hall of Fame in February 2006. Schiller was a frontcourt player who competed alongside future NBA players Jim McMillian and Dave Newmark under Columbia Hall of Fame head coach Jack Rohan.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Columbia College in 1969, Schiller went on to graduate from Columbia Law School with his J.D. in 1973. Schiller is the co-founder and Managing Partner of Boies Schiller Flexner LLP and oversees the firm’s pro-bono program. He received the John Jay Award from Columbia College in 2006 and the Alexander Hamilton Medal for “distinguished service and accomplishment” from the school in 2012. A member of the Dean’s Council of Columbia Law School, Schiller was named a University Trustee in 2009. He was dubbed a co-chair of the University Trustees in 2014, along with Columbia Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Bill Campbell, and has served as the sole chair since 2015. Each of his three sons are also Columbia graduates: Zachary, Columbia College (2001); Joshua, Columbia Law School (2008) and Aaron, Columbia College (2006).

One of the most highly regarded commercial litigators and arbitration lawyers in the United States and overseas, Schiller has served as lead counsel in numerous high-profile cases for clients including Barclays, Goldman Sachs, CBS, the New York Yankees and DraftKings. In recognition of his professional attainment, distinguished service and extraordinary leadership in the legal profession, Schiller was elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
