Men's Ice Hockey All-Ivy, Postseason Awards Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Harvard's Ryan Donato and Adam Fox received the Ivy League men's ice hockey postseason awards following a vote of the League's six head coaches.

Harvard's Ted Donato was named the Ivy League Coach of the Year, sophomore forward Ryan Donato was selected as the Player of the Year and freshman defenseman Adam Fox was tabbed as the Rookie of the Year.

Donato accumulated a League-high 16 points in Ivy League play, tallying five goals and a League-high 11 assists. On the season, the Scituate, Mass., native amassed 35 points by way of 17 assists and a team-high 18 goals. Donato ranks among the top five in ECAC Hockey in short-handed goals (2nd), goals (4th) and points (5th). The sophomore was a +15 player for the Crimson and sits fourth in the nation in short-handed goals (3), 12th in goals per game (.62) and 23rd in points per game (1.21).

Fox burst onto the college scene with 10 points via two goals and eight assists in Ivy League play. The Jericho, N.Y., native did even more damage overall, accumulating 32 points via five goals and a team-high 27 assists. Fox ranks among the top 11 in ECAC Hockey in assists (3rd) and points (11th). The freshman was a +19 player for Harvard and ranks fifth in NCAA Division I in assists per game (.96) and 30th in points per game (1.14).

In his 13th season at the helm, Donato led Harvard to an 8-1-1 record in Ivy League play and its first outright Ivy League men's ice hockey title since 2005-06. The Crimson also captured a share of the ECAC Hockey regular-season championship for the first time since 1993-94 with a 16-4-2 record and 34 points. On Feb. 13, Donato's Crimson snapped a 23-year Beanpot championship drought with a 6-3 win over Boston University.  

Ivy League champion Harvard boasts a League-high five All-Ivy selections—including four FirstTeam honorees. Joining Donato and unanimous selection Fox on the First Team are senior forward Alexander Kerfoot (Sr., F – West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) and junior goaltender Merrick Madsen (Jr., G – Acton, Calif.). Freshman defenseman John Marino (Fr., D – North Easton, Mass.) is the Crimson's lone Second-Team honoree.

Cornell trails the Crimson with four All-Ivy honorees. Those include First Team All-Ivy freshman defender Yanni Kaldis (Fr., D – Montreal, Quebec, Canada) and a trio of Second Team All-Ivy selections in sophomore forward Mitch Vanderlaan (So., F – Hanwell, New Brunswick, Canada), senior defenseman Patrick McCarron (Sr., D – Toronto, Ontario, Canada) and senior goaltender Mitch Gillam (Sr., G – Peterborough, Ontario, Canada).

Dartmouth is represented on the First Team by senior forward Troy Crema (Sr., F – Toronto, Ontario, Canada), while sophomore defenseman Josh Teves (So., D – Calgary, Alberta, Canada) represents Princeton. Yale senior forward John Hayden (Sr., F – Greenwich, Conn.) claimed the final First Team slot as 1-of-2 unanimous choices.

Brown claims a Second Team All-Ivy forward in Sam Lafferty (Jr., F – Hollidaysburg, Pa.).
