Women's Ice Hockey All-Ivy, Postseason Awards Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Capturing its first Ivy League women's ice hockey title since 2006, Princeton swept the 2015-16 Player, Rookie of Coach of the Year honors and earned three first-team All-Ivy selections.

In vote of the League's six head coaches, Princeton junior defense Kelsey Koelzer was named Player of the Year, freshman forward Karlie Lund was named Rookie of the Year honors and Jeff Kampersal was named Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. 

Koelzer was tied for the team-lead this season with 15 goals. She also poured in 14 assists for 29 points, second-best on the squad. The Horsham, Pa., native registered a +21 for the Tigers and tallied four game-winning goals.

Lund burst on the collegiate scene to play in all 27 games for the Tigers. She was tied for the team-lead with 15 goals and led Princeton in assists (21) and points (36). The Eden Prairie, Minn., native notched four game-winning goals and tallied a +19 on the ice throughout the season. Lund totaled 13 points in Ivy League games, a League-best.

Kampersal earned Coach of the Year honors after guiding Princeton to 20 wins overall and the team's first Ivy League title in 10 years. In his 20th season at the helm on Old Nassau, he has led the Tigers to a No. 3 seed in the upcoming ECAC Hockey Tournament.

Koelzer and Lund were also unanimous first-team All-Ivy selections along with Dartmouth senior forward Laura Stacey (Kleinburg, Ontario, Canada). Stacey tallied 10 goals for Dartmouth and led the Big Green in assists (13) and points. Twelve of her 23 points came in Ivy League contests, including eight of her 10 goals.

Senior goalie Kimberly Newell (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) joined her Tiger teammates on the first team. She recorded a 16-5-1 overall, including a 7-1 mark in Ivy League contests, in 22 starts. Newell racked up 582 saves and four shutouts throughout the regular season. She posted a 1.44 goals against average and .947 save percentage in Ivy League games

As Koelzer was back on the first team for a second year, Harvard senior goalie Emerance Maschmeyer (Bruderheim, Alberta, Canada) capped her illustrious career with a third-straight appearance on the All-Ivy first team. The 2013 Rookie of the Year and 2014 Co-Player of the Year started 23 games for the Crimson, earning a 1.78 goals against average in those games. She totaled 635 saves earning a .941 save percentage. In Ivy League contests, Maschmeyer led the League in goals against average (1.28) and save percentage (.954).

Harvard also boasted a trio on the first team with junior forward Sydney Daniels (Southwick, Mass.) and senior defense Michelle Picard (Taunton, Mass.) joining Maschmeyer. Daniels tallied 11 points in Ivy League games, including a League-best nine goals. She had a team-best 18 goals and accumulated 27 points in 28 games. Picard played in all 29 games, earning a +17 on the ice. She racked up two goals and nine assists throughout the regular season.

Cornell placed the second team with four selections, In all, Princeton, Harvard and Cornell tied with five All-Ivy selections each.
