Play Ball! 2015 Baseball Season Kicks Off

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Ivy League baseball season kicks off in full this weekend, with six teams in action against tough competition.

Cornell (0-3) was the first team to take to the diamond this season, as the Big Red suffered three one-goal losses at the hands of Gardner Webb last weekend.

This weekend, Harvard has a four-game series at Wofford, Penn plays three at Stetson and Brown opens with four games at South Alabama. The Bears will be playing under the direction of Grant Achilles, who took over head coaching duties midway through the 2014 season and had the interim tag removed in June.

The highlights of the weekend feature Columbia, Dartmouth and Princeton, who open with No. 6 Houston, No. 19 Texas A&M and No. 4 LSU, respectively. The games involving the Lions and Tigers will be broadcast on ESPN3.

Last year saw playoffs in each of the divisions, as Columbia held off Penn and Dartmouth defeated Yale to advance to the Championship Series. There, the Lions swept the Big Green to punch a ticket to their second-straight NCAA Tournament.
