PRINCETON, N.J. -- Harvard, Dartmouth and Penn lay claim to the 2015 Ivy League football title as each finished conference play with identical 6-1 records. The Big Green earned its League-leading 18th Ivy title, while Harvard and Penn now each have 17 Ivy titles to their credit.
POSTSEASON NOTES
• Sharing the Ivy League title by three teams in one season has happened only four times in the conference's 60-year history:
1966 Dartmouth, Harvard and Princeton (6-1)
1969 Dartmouth, Yale and Princeton (6-1)
1982 Harvard, Penn and Dartmouth (5-2)
2015 Harvard, Dartmouth and Penn (6-1)
• Penn head coach Ray Priore became just the seventh person to win an Ivy football title in his first season, following Princeton's Dick Colman in 1957, Dartmouth's Jake Crouthamel in 1971, Joe Yukica in 1978 and John Lyons in 1992, Penn's Ed Zubrow in 1986 and Cornell's Jim Hofher in 1990.
• The League closed the regular season in position to have two teams ranked in top 25 when the final polls come out in January. It would mark the first time two Ivy teams were ranked in the final polls since 2007 when Yale was 22nd in The Sports Network Poll and 21st in the CollegeSportingNews.com/AFCA Poll and Harvard was 20th in the CollegeSportingNews.com/AFCA Poll. Harvard looks to be ranked in the final polls for the fourth time in five years, while Dartmouth could receive its first season-ending ranking since 1996.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Harvard senior quarterback Scott Hosch (Sugar Hill, Ga.) posted a record-setting performance in the Crimson's 38-19 victory over Yale. Hosch went 23-of-37 for 320 yards and four touchdown passes of 53, 35, 18 and 2 yards. He also led Harvard's ground attack with 11 carries for 60 yards to give him 380 yards of total offense. With this effort to cap his senior campaign, Hosch became the school's single-season leader in passing yards (2,827), tied the school record for touchdown passes in "The Game" (4), and tied for second in school history in single-season touchdown passes (22).
Hosch's Statistics for the Week
23-37-1, 320 yds., 4 TDs, 60 rush yds.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dartmouth senior defensive end Cody Fulleton (Seattle) caused problems for Princeton all afternoon in the Big Green's 17-10 title-clinching win. On the first possession of the game, Fulleton separated a ball carrier from the ball and recovered it to end a Princeton drive in Big Green territory. He also batted down a third-down pass in the opening quarter to force the Tigers to punt. But it was his third-down sack with about 2:30 to play that led to Dartmouth getting the ball back in time to score the game-winning touchdown in the final minute. He finished the game with eight tackles, with 2.5 being for a loss, to go along with his sack, forced fumble, recovered fumble and pass breakup.
Fulleton's Statistics for the Week
8 tkls. (4 solo), 1.0 Sack, 2.5 TFL, 1 FF, 1 FR, 1 BrUp
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brown junior defensive back Sam Russell (Newton, Mass.) gave the Bears' one of two non-offensive touchdowns in a thrilling 28-23 victory over Columbia. With Brown's offense struggling to put points on the scoreboard, Russell took matters into his own hands by blocking a second-quarter punt and recovering the ball in the end zone for his first collegiate touchdown. He also assisted on a tackle.
Russell's Statistics for the Week
1 Block Punt for TD, 1 tkl. (1 solo)
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Harvard freshman wide receiver Justice Shelton-Mosley (Sacramento, Calif.) shined once again for the Crimson in the win over Yale in "The Game". Shelton-Mosley scored three touchdowns -- two receiving and one rushing -- and amassed a total of 153 all-purpose yards. He caught five passes for 119 yards with touchdown grabs of 53 and 35 yards. Shelton-Mosley also ran for an eight-yard score and added 26 kick return yards.
