BRONX, N.Y. -- Princeton finished with 60 points to claim its first Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championship since 2010, which coincidentally was the last time Ivy Heps took place at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
Yale finished second with 83 points, followed by Columbia (94), Brown (109), Penn (114), Cornell (114), Harvard (134) and Dartmouth (151).
The 2015 race marked the first time the women ran a 6K at Van Cortlandt Park in Ivy Heps history, as the previous women's distance at VCP was 5K. Princeton junior Elizabeth Bird won the individual title in 20:47.4 to lead three Tigers in the top 10. She gives the Tigers individual titles in back-to-back seasons, as Megan Curham won in 2014. Seniors Emily de La Bruyere and Kathryn Fluehr placed fourth and sixth, recording times of 21:08.8 and 21:24.6, respectively.
Junior Frances Schmiede and sophomore Dana Klein went 7-8 to lead Yale to its best finish since 2002, when it also took second. The Bulldogs' 83 points is their best score since 2004, when they placed third with 73 points.
Columbia saw its first four runners cross the line among the top 10, led by senior Olivia Sadler, who placed ninth with a time of 21:29.1. It marks the second-straight season the Lions finished in third-place. Brown sophomore Natalie Schudrowitz (12th, 21:45.2) led a trio of Bears who finished in the top 20.
Dartmouth senior Dana Giordano was the individual runner-up for the second-straight season, finishing with a time of 20:55.4, edging out Harvard sophomore Courtney Smith (third, 20:55.9).
A video recap of the 2015 Ivy Heps will be posted on Monday, along with the Coach of the Year and All-Ivy announcement.
