Ivies Power Team USA at World Rowing U23 Championships

LINZ, Austria -- Men's and women's rowers from all eight Ivy League schools power Team USA at the 2013 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, held July 24-28 on the Linz-Ottensheim regatta course which runs alongside the Danube River.
 
On a team of 65 rowers, representing schools all across the country, the Ivy League comprised 43 percent of the U23 National team members, with 28 rowers, making the Ivy League the largest represented conference on the U23 National Team. The Pac-12 had the second largest showing of rowers with a total of seven, followed closely behind by the Big Ten with six.

Twenty United States crews competed at the World Rowing U23 Championships with four finding their way to the podium. The Ivy League was well represented across the board, in all the medal winning boats, with at least one rower from an Ivy school in each boat.  

Andrew Campbell (Harvard) captured the U.S.'s first ever gold medal in the Lightweight Men's Single Sculls (LM1x) at the U23 World Championships.

Courtney Diekema (Harvard-Radcliffe) and Coco Schoeller (Brown) helped the U.S. Women's 8+ defend their U23 national title and gold medal.

The Men's Four (M4-), battled their way to a bronze medal with the help of Will Gillis (Princeton), Morgan Gerlak (Brown) and Ned Benning (Cornell).

With an almost all-Ivy league boat, comprised of Paul Farber (Harvard), Hunter Leeming (Brown), Anders Weiss (Brown), Brendan Stoner (Dartmouth), Daren Frankel (Penn), James Hamp (Princeton) and Max Meyer-Bosse (Harvard), the Men's 8+ captured a silver medal.  

In addition to the rowers who made it onto the podium, 15 other Ivy League rowers competed in eight additional boats.

In the Women's category, the Ivies were represented in the following boats:
Single: Maddie Lips (Yale) 
Lightweight Double: Alex Morss (Princeton)
Double Sculls: Leigh Archer (Cornell)
Pair: Kristina Wagner (Yale) and Elizabeth Fitzhenry (Harvard)
Lightweight Quadruple Sculls: Veronique Bourassa (Columbia) and Jenna Hebert (Penn)
Four: Kim Szokol (Yale)

In the Men's category, the Ivies were represented in the following boats: 
Lightweight Four: Matthew O'Donoghue (Yale), Joshua Konieczny (Dartmouth) and Joseph Hanlon (Yale)
Lightweight Quadruple Sculls: Parker Lange (Penn), Oliver Ingram (Columbia) and Maximilian Fenner (Columbia)
