PRINCETON, N.J. -- Yale punched its ticket to the 2012 Men's Lacrosse NCAA Championship field with an emphatic 15-7 win over Princeton in the Ivy League Tourament Championship on Sunday afternoon at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.

As Ivy League Tourament Champions, the Bulldogs earned the League's automatic bid and will the return to the NCAA Championship for the first time since 1992. Yale becomes the third team to with the Ivy Tournament title in its three seasons of play (Princeton in 2010, Cornell in 2011).

Senior Matt Gibson had two goals and four assists to lead the Bulldogs' offense, giving the first team All-Ivy honoree 14 points on the weekend. He was named the tournament's most outstanding player. In goal, sophomore Jack Meyer made seven saves and he was also named to the All-Tournament team.

Dylan Levings, Yale's super sophomore face-off man, won 14-of-23 and kept the ball on Eli sticks most of the game. Levings, continuing the line of Yale face-off powers, found the net for the first time in his career to give the Elis a four-goal lead in the third. He won 27-of 49-between the two games and has now won 63 percent of his attempts this spring.

The win was Yale's ninth in a row, its longest winning streak since opening 1990 with 14 consecutive victories.

The 2012 NCAA Championship field will be announced tonight on ESPNU at 9:00 p.m. The Ivy League has had at least two teams make the NCAA field in each of the past three seasons and in five of the last six years.
