Cornell Earns At-Large Berth in 2012 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship Field

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division I Men’s
Ice Hockey Committee selected the 16 teams that will participate in
the 2012 Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship and Cornell
was included in the group of 11 at-large selections.
Coming off a third-place showing at this weekend's ECAC Hockey
Championship, the Big Red earned the No. 4 seed in the Midwest
Regional, which will be played on March 23-24 at the Resch Center
in Green Bay, Wis. Cornell will play top-seeded Michigan in a
first-round game at 9:00 p.m. (EST) on Friday, March 23. will be
broadcast live on ESPNU and ESPN3.
Boston College was the No. 1 overall seed. The other No. 1
seeds, in order, included the Wolverines, Union (N.Y.) and North
Dakota. The winner of the Cornell-Michigan game will face the
winner of the Ferris State-Denver game for a place in the 2012
Frozen Four, which will be played on April 5 and 7 at the Tampa Bay
Times Forum in Tampa, Fla.
