Eight Ivies Earn NSCAA All-Region Honors
NSCAA All-Northeast Region selections
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Eight players from
Ivy League men's soccer programs were named to the three teams of
All-Northeast Region honors when the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) announced its regional awards on
Monday.
Brown's Dylan Remick and Thomas
McNamara and Cornell's Daniel Haber and
Patrick Slogic earned All-Northeast Region
first-team honors. Princeton's Mark Linville and
Matt Sanner earned second-team selections, while
Brown's Eric Robertson and
Dartmouth's Alexander Adelabu earned
third-team honors.
Remick earned his third consecutive first team All-Ivy nod
this season, including back-to-back seasons as a unanimous
selection. He was also awarded CoSIDA/Capital One Academic
All-American honors and was named a 2012 New England
Intercollegiate Soccer (NEISL) All-Star. Remick started in 18 games
and combined for 11 points on two goals and a team-high seven
assists. He earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Brown Soccer
Classic and was the Tournament MVP at the Ocean State Classic for
his outstanding defensive efforts.
Remick was an NSCAA second-team All-American selection
last week, the first All-American for the Bears since
2004.
McNamara was tied for the team lead in scoring with 12 points.
Starting all 19 matches for the Bears, McNamara tallied four goals
and four assists on the year. After missing most of the 2011
campaign due to injury, McNamara received his
first career first-team All-Ivy accolade this season, which also
marked his third career postseason honor. He also earned
a 2012 NEISL All-Star selection.
Slogic, the tallest player on the Cornell roster, made his
second consecutive appearance on first team All-Ivy earlier in the
postseason and now earns second straight first-team All-Region
honor. The tallest player on the roster, Slogic anchored the back
line and helped a defense that gave up just 13 goals all year, the
second-lowest number in the Ivy League. Slogic also scored two
goals and added an assist this season, and both of his goals were
game-winners.
Haber also moved up to the first-team All-Region squad after
earning third team honors last year. Haber, who was named a first
team All-American by the NSCAA last week, led the team with 18
goals and 43 points. A semifinalist for the Hermann Award, he also
led the country in goals per game (1.06) and points per game
(2.53). His 43 points was second-best in school history,
behind only Victor
Huerta's 47-point year in 1972. Haber's 18
goals were also tied for second in a season in team history. His
five game-winning goals – including three in Ivy League play
– is the second-best in Cornell history, and his seven
assists tied him for seventh ever for the Big
Red.
Haber was Cornell's first first-team All-American
selection since defender Kip Jordan in
1973.
