Senior captain Ryan McCarthy recorded her first career hat trick in a 5-1 victory over Cornell. With the victory, Princeton clinched a share of the Ivy League championship, its 25th all-time and the Ivy’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. It will be the 22nd time the Tigers have made the big dance.
McCarthy got the scoring started early for the Tigers, finding the back of the net off a corner just 65 seconds into the game. The Madison, N.J., native added her second score off a corner at the end of the first half, before converting on a penalty stroke in the 60th minute of action. McCarthy now has a team-leading 15 goals this season and jumped into the league’s top-20 in career points with 95.
This marks the third weekly award for McCarthy in 2017 and the fourth overall for the Tigers.
