Columbia’s Beto Carrillo registered the game-winner against Yale to help the Lions finish the week 2-0.
On a rain-soaked pitch at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium, Columbia’s Beto Carrillo’s goal in the first half proved to be the difference-maker as the Lions topped Yale, 1-0. Teammate Blake Willis sent a long pass ahead to John Denis. Denis controlled the pass and found the foot of Carrillo who buried the ball into the back of the net for the goal. It was the rookie’s first career goal.
This marks the first weekly award for the Lions, who own an 8-2-3 record on the season and a 3-1-1 in Ivy League play.
