Penn’s Alexa Hoover registered a goal and two assists as the Quakers posted an impressive 2-0 week with wins over Yale and No. 10 Syracuse.
Hoover played an integral part in all three of Penn’s goals as the Quakers upset No. 10 Syracuse. The victory marked the second win over a ranked opponent for the Quakers this season and the first in five tries over the Orange in the all-time series that dates back to 1993. Hoover posted the game-winner when she picked up an aerial ball off the dribble and shot high to the center of the net as the ball sailed over Syracuse’s Borg van der Velde’s head for the score in the 64th minute.
This marks the first weekly award for Hoover and Penn in 2017. Hoover, who knocked in the game-winner against then-No. 22 American a month ago, has now tallied 11 Ivy League weekly awards honors throughout her career.
