Penn’s Joe Swenson totaled nine points on the week as the Quakers went 1-1 with a loss to Villanova and a win over Yale.
Against the Wildcats, the senior converted on a penalty kick in the 77th minute, cutting the deficit to 2-1. On Saturday, Swenson exploded for a hat trick to help the Quakers secure a 4-1 win over the Bulldogs. The Massapequa Park, N.Y., native played a factor in all four of Penn’s goal, registering an assist on Jake Kolhbrenner’s tally. Penn’s 4-1 win marks its largest margin of victory this season. Swenson leads the Quakers with 16 points on the season and is tied for the first among Ivy League leaders with seven goals.
This marks the first weekly award for Swenson, a 2016 All-Ivy Honorable Mention selection, this season and the second for Penn. Jake Kolhbrenner earned Rookie of the Week for the week of Sept. 18.
