Cornell opened its Ivy League season with a 1-1 draw at Penn thanks to freshman Caleb McAuslan. After being down early in the first half, McAuslan came through in the clutch and netted the equalizer to secure the draw.

The Everett, Wash., native registered his second goal of the season in the 77th minute off a cross from Tyler Bagley. McAuslan was credited with an assist in the Big Red’s 3-2 win over Binghamton earlier in the week. The rookie has appeared in all nine games, earning a starting spot in six of those games. He is tied for second on the team in goals (2) and points (5).

This marks the first weekly award honor for McAuslan and the second for the Big Red this season. Last week, classmate Richie Hrncir was named Ivy League Player/Rookie of the Week for his efforts in the team’s upset victory over then-No. 11 Syracuse.
