Freshman Julianna Tornetta made an immediate impact for the No. 8 Princeton field hockey team as the Tigers fell, 5-3, to defending national champion, No. 3 Delaware. Tornetta registered two goals in the lost.
Down 2-0, Tornetta recorded her first collegiate goal, lifting the ball over Delaware’s goalie Emmeline Oltmans that hit off of a defenders’ stick and went into the back of the cage to put Princeton on the board. In the 47th minute, Ryan McCarthy found Tornetta, who once again got around Oltman and blasted her second goal of the game in the 49th minute, setting the score at 4-3.
Tornetta receives the first Ivy League weekly award of her career and is Princeton’s first Rookie of the Week honoree since Carlotta Von gierke on Oct. 17, 2016.
