BUFFALO, N.Y
. -- Returning to the NCAA Tournament for the 25th time in program history and the first time since 2011, Princeton is the No. 12 seed in the West Region and takes on the fifth-seeded Notre Dame Irish on Thursday, March 16 in Buffalo, N.Y. 

The Tigers got to the NCAA Tournament after earning the top seed in the inaugural Ivy League tournament, held last weekend at the Palestra in Philadelphia, and defeating fourth-seeded Penn and third-seeded Yale.

The game is set for Thursday, March 17 at Buffalo’s KeyBank Center at 12:15 p.m. ET and will air on CBS.

LEAGUE NOTES:

  • Princeton is making the 74th NCAA Tournament appearance for an Ivy League team and the 60th for the League since its first official season.
  • The Ivy League is 5-5 in its last five NCAA Tournament appearances as a No. 12 seed – Princeton is 1-1 in 1998, Cornell is 2-1 in 2010, Harvard 0-1 in 2012, Harvard 1-1 in 2014 and Yale 1-1 in 2016.
  • Ivy League teams have combined for a 43-83 (.341) record in 73 NCAA Tournament appearances since 1938-39. Since the 1956-57 season, the Ancient Eight has a 34-63 (.350) record in 59 appearances.

  • Princeton earned their way into the field by going a perfect 16-0 in the Ivy League. The Tigers ran through the regular season unbeaten and then won the first-ever Ivy League tournament by knocking off Penn and Yale.  
  • Princeton enters the Dance on a 19-game winning streak. The Tigers’ 19-game winning streak is second only to Vermont’s 21-game streak entering the tournament.  
  • Princeton’s 23 wins are the sixth-most in program history and most since Princeton went 25-7 in 2010-11, the last time it made the NCAA Tournament.
  • In his sixth season at the helm, Mitch Henderson became the only person in league history to both play for (1997, 1998) and coach (2017) 14-0 Ivy League teams.
  • Princeton’s balanced offense features four players averaging double-figures, led by Devin Cannady and Steven Cook who are each contribute 13.7 points per game.
