PRINCETON, N.J. -- Yale senior infielder Richard Slenker, Cornell senior right-handed pitcher Paul Balestrieri and Dartmouth freshman outfielder Trevor Johnson were selected as the Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

LEAGUE NOTES

  • Dartmouth and Cornell continue to boast the Ivy League's top marks at 6-4 and 6-3, respectively. Harvard also sits at 7-7 to give the Ancient Eight three programs at .500-or-above thus far.
  • A trio of Ivy League pitchers have tallied three wins— Cornell's Paul Balestrieri, Dartmouth's Michael Danielak, and Yale's Scott Politz.
  • Yale's Politz has fanned 24 opposing batters to top the Ivy League.
  • Dartmouth's Chris Burkholder paces the Ancient Eight with three saves on the year.
  • Three Ivies claim a sub-1.00 ERA—Dartmouth's Beau Sulser (0.00), Penn's Mike Reitcheck (0.76) and Cornell's Balestrieri (0.93).
  • Yale's Griffin Dey tops the League with five home runs and 19 RBIs. The Bulldogs boast the top four RBI totals in the Ivy League with Tim DeGraw (13), Andrew Herrera (10) and Richard Slenker (10) joining Dey atop the rankings.
  • Dey (14), DeGraw (13) and Slenker (12) also pace the Ancient Eight in runs scored.
  • With a .436 mark in 39 at-bats, Cornell's Dale Wickham leads all Ivies in batting average. He also claims a conference-best seven doubles on the season.
  • Harvard's Patrick Robinson owns a League-best .649 slugging percentage, while Dartmouth's Trevor Johnson possesses an Ivy-best .543 on-base percentage.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Yale senior infielder Richard Slenker (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) hit .375 with nine hits in 24 at-bats for the Bulldogs. The senior helped Yale to a series split with Wofford, after dropping a pair to No. 10 Clemson.

The Pound, Ridge, N.Y., native tallied eight runs scored and seven RBIs in the six-game week. He also added three doubles, a home run, two walks and a stolen base. In the two wins against Wofford, Slenker posted back-to-back three-hit performances, extending his hitting streak to five games. Six of his RBIs also came in the winning efforts.

Slenker is the second-straight Yale student-athlete to be named Player of the Week, after a five-year drought from March 13, 2012 to March 13, 2017.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Cornell senior right-handed pitcher Paul Balestrieri (West Windsor, N.J.) earned a victory against a Michigan State team that is receiving votes in a pair of national polls to improve to 3-0 on the season.

The West Windsor, N.J., product yielded one earned run on four hits en route to his third-straight win. He struck out four, while conceding three walks. Balestrieri got out of a jam in the third inning, stranding the bases loaded by getting Alex Troop to fly out to right field.

Balestrieri last earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the Big Red on April 5, 2016.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Dartmouth freshman outfielder Trevor Johnson (Rye, N.Y.) continued the torrid start to his collegiate career, hitting .500 in a four-game set at The Citadel.

The Rye, N.Y., native introduced the Big Green to the state of South Carolina—it was Dartmouth's first-ever appearance in the state—by launching a lead-off home run in the series opener. The dinger was part of a 3-for-4 effort for the freshman that included two runs and two RBIs in a 7-2 victory. Johnson also starred in the series finale, reaching base five times and scoring three runs to help Dartmouth to a 10-9 win and a series split.

Johnson is the first Big Green student-athlete to be tabbed as Rookie of the Week since Rob Emery on March 22, 2016.
