Princeton Completes #IvyHeps Triple Crown

PHILADELPHIA -- Princeton completed the 2017-18 triple crown after a win at the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Sunday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

The Tigers, who already have the cross country and indoor championships to their name this season, finished with 178 points to hold off the host Penn, which garnered 142. Cornell was third with 81, followed by Dartmouth (74), Columbia (68), Harvard (60), Brown (40), and Yale (39).

Princeton claimed the triple crown for the eighth time in program history and the first since 2014-15. The Tigers’ score is their best since 2013, when they finished with 190. Penn posted its best finish since tying for second in 2005 and its best score since tallying 147 in 1998.

The Tigers also swept the Most Outstanding Performer awards, with senior Joshua Ingalls (Track) and Mitchel Charles (Field). Ingalls won the 800m in 1:47.76, the second-fastest time in meet history, while also running with the Tigers’ second-place 4x800m relay team. Charles claimed two titles on Sunday, winning the shot put in the morning and then the discus in the afternoon.
