Women's Lacrosse All-Ivy, Postseason Awards Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Five Ivy League programs were represented among the League’s women’s lacrosse postseason award winners following a vote of the Ancient Eight coaches.

Harvard senior Julia Glynn was selected as the Attacker of the Year, Columbia junior Lindsey Ewertsen was named the Midfielder of the Year, Penn senior Natalie Stefan claimed Defender of the Year honors and Dartmouth sophomore Kiera Vrindten earned Goalkeeper of the Year accolades.

Dartmouth head coach Danielle Spencer and Princeton head coach Chris Sailer were dubbed Co-Coaches of the Year. Spencer led the Big Green to their first Ivy League Women’s Lacrosse Tournament berth since 2013, while Sailer coached the Tigers to their fifth-straight Ivy League title.

Glynn paced all Ivies with 95 points—via a League-high 69 goals and 26 assists. Forty-four of those points came in League play, including 30 goals. The Manhasset, N.Y., native ranks among the top 10 in NCAA Division I in goals, goals per game, points and points per game. Her 95 points are the third-most in a single season in Crimson history, while her 69 goals are the second-most in Harvard lore.

Ewertsen led the Ancient Eight with 45 ground balls this season, including 25 during the seven-game League slate. The Montclair, N.J., product—who had 41 points via 26 goals and 15 assists—also tied for ninth with 17 goals during Ivy play.

With 36 overall and 19 in League play, Stefan finished third in the League’s ground ball charts. The Manhasset, N.Y., native also contributed 25 caused turnovers, 25 draw controls and three assists this season.

Vrindten compiled a 10.39 goals-against average and .436 save percentage this season, accumulating 112 saves in 837:40 of game action. The Warren, N.J., product held opponents to fewer than 10 goals in 7-of-15 games and less than 15 in 12-of-15 contests. She ranked second in the League, behind Ewertsen, with 40 ground balls overall and 21 in Ancient Eight play.

In her second season at the helm, Spencer led Dartmouth back to the Ivy League Women’s Lacrosse Tournament for the first time since 2013. The Big Green had a four-win improvement overall (7-8 2017, 11-4 2018) from year one to year two under Spencer, highlighted by a three-win swing in Ivy League play (2-5 2017, 5-2 2018).

In her 32nd season leading the Princeton program, Sailer coached the Tigers to their fifth-straight Ivy League championship and 14th overall—all coming during her storied tenure. The Tigers also earned the right to host the Ivy League Women’s Lacrosse Tournament as the No. 1 seed for the third time in the event’s nine-year history.

Ivy League co-champions Penn and Princeton topped the Leauge with seven All-Ivy recipients each, headlined by four First Team selections. Penn’s First Team honorees were sophomore attacker Gabby Rosenzweig, freshman attacker Zoe Belodeau, sophomore midfielder Erin Barry and senior defender Stefan. Freshman attacker Kyla Sears, junior attacker Elizabeth George, senior midfielder Ellie McNulty and junior defender Alex Argo represented Princeton on the First Team.

Dartmouth claimed three First Team slots with sophomore attacker Ellie Carson, sophomore midfielder Katie Bourque and sophomore goalkeeper Vrindten earning the recognition.

Columbia—senior attacker Victoria Kalamaras and junior midfielder Ewertsen—and Harvard—senior attacker Glynn and junior attacker Keeley MacAfee—also had multiple First Team All-Ivy recipients.
