Lauren Gibbs and Cornell field hockey and track & field product
Jamie Greubel Poser recorded two of the top Ivy League finishes in PyeongChang—with Gibbs securing the League’s first medal of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games, a silver in women’s bobsled on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Elana Meyers Taylor and Gibbs posted the top time in Heat 3 at 50.46 and went 50.73 (3rd overall) in Heat 4 to secure an Olympic silver medal. Their combined time of 3:22.52 was .07 seconds out of gold medal position.
Cornell field hockey and track & field alumna Greubel Poser and Aja Evans crossed the line in 50.59 (4th overall) in Heat 3 and 50.85 (5th overall) in Heat 4. Their combined time of 3:23.02 was good for fifth place—.57 seconds out of gold medal position and .13 seconds off the podium.
Cornell men’s ice hockey product
Ben Scrivens recorded 24:17 of scoreless hockey while manning the net for Canada, helping the team to a 1-0 victory over Finland in the quarterfinals. The Canadian side will take on Germany in the Olympic semifinals on Friday, Feb. 23.
The United States men’s ice hockey team and assistant coach
Keith Allain fell to the Czech Republic—3-2 via a shootout—in the quarterfinals. Reigning Ivy League Player of the Year and current Harvard student-athlete
Ryan Donato (20:46) netted his fifth Olympic goal in the losing effort, while Yale men’s ice hockey product
Brian O’Neill (16:30) added an assist.

Mark Arcobello (19:56) and
Broc Little (15:10) also contributed to the quarterfinal bout. Donato and Arcobello were among the five American skaters to have a penalty shot saved by Czech goaltender Pavel Francouz in the game-deciding shootout.
