2018 IVY LEAGUE MEN'S LACROSSE TOURNAMENT
The 2018 Ivy League Men’s Lacrosse Tournament, which features the top four teams in the final standings, will be held at Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium on the campus of Columbia for the first time, May 4 and 6. It’s the first time in the history of the event that the tournament will take place at predetermined site. LEAGUE NOTES:
- The Ivies went 4-3 on the first day of the 2018 season. Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn and Princeton all registered season-opening wins.
- No. 11 Yale and No. 18 Princeton are ranked in this week’s Inside Lacrosse
- Yale’s Ben Reeves and Cornell’s Jeff Teat are fifth in the country with 4 goals per game after the first weekend of action. Reeves and Teat each contributed seven points in their teams season opener on four goals and three assists.
- Yale ranks third in the country in clearing percentage, successful clearing the ball 95 percent of the time.
- Princeton and Harvard rank inside the top-10 in saves per game. The Tigers are second with 17, while the Crimson is seventh with 13.50.
- Senior Morgan Cheek registered an assist in Harvard’s win over UMass Lowell to extend his point streak to 32 consecutive games, which is the ninth-longest active streak in the country.
- Yale, the reigning Ivy League lacrosse champions, opened the season with a 10-9 overtime loss to No. 15 Villanova.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
In the season opener, Princeton senior goalie Tyler Blaisdell registered 17 saves and allowed eight goals in a 9-8 double overtime win versus Monmouth. Blaisdell registered a 68.0 save percentage and a 7.31 goals-against average in the win.
Monmouth, the defending MAAC champion, threw a program-record 57 shots at Princeton but Blaisdell came up big. With less than 10 seconds to go in regulation, the senior from Hanover, Mass., stopped Bryce Wasserman, Monmouth’s all-time leading scorer, one-on-one in the final seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime. In overtime, Blaisdell made a save with 1:53 to go in overtime to keep the game knotted at 8-8 and force a second overtime session.
Blaisdell, a first-team All-Ivy League selection, picks up his first weekly award for the 2018 and the second of his career.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Harvard rookie
Steven Cuccurullo made an immediate impact for Harvard in the circle as the Crimson opened the season with a 10-9 win over UMass Lowell.
Making his first appearance of his career as the Crimson’s front-line specialist, Cuccurullo was dominant at the X. The Smithtown, N.Y., native won 13 of the 17 draws against UMass Lowell. The rookie also picked up a game-high seven ground balls.
Cuccurullo, who was ranked as the No. 32 recruit in 2016, picks up his first career Ivy League weekly award. Cuccurullo’s sister, Jackie is a sophomore on the Harvard women’s lacrosse team.
