PYEONGCHANG, South Korea -- Nine Ivies returned to the ice on Wednesday, Feb. 14, as women’s ice hockey group play continued and men’s ice hockey group play began at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Phoebe Staenz (22:17) scored her third goal in PyeongChang, propelling Switzerland to a 2-1 victory over Sweden and securing a Group B sweep. The Swiss will take on the loser of Finland and the Olympic Athletes from Russia in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Feb. 17.

Randi Griffin (17:36) concluded their Olympic competition as Unified Korea finished Group B play 0-3 following a 4-1 loss to Japan. Griffin netted Unified Korea’s goal versus Japan—its sole tally in PyeongChang.
Five Ivies took Olympic ice for the first time as the United States men’s ice hockey team dropped its Olympic opener, 3-2 in overtime, to Slovenia in Group B play. Yale alum
