PYEONGCHANG, South Korea -- A PyeongChang-high nine Ivies competed in Winter Olympic events on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

Laura Schuler has Canada on the fast-track to its fifth-straight Olympic gold medal, having clinched a spot in the semifinals with a 4-1 victory over Finland.
This year’s Canadian side is powered by Ivy League alumnae—with 6-of-23 competitors hailing from Ancient Eight institutions. Four Ivies are looking to repeat as gold medalists with Hockey Canada, while two are making their Olympic debuts in PyeongChang.

Laura Stacey (10:24) in contributing to the blowout victory.
Saulnier netted her first Olympic goal, while Fortino and Johnston each added an assist. Jenner paced all Canadian skaters with 20:48 of ice time for head coach Schuler.
Canada and the United States are tied atop Group A with six points each, and have already clinched byes to the Olympic semifinals. They will square off on Thursday, Feb. 15, to determine their seeding heading into the bracketed portion of Olympic competition.
A pair of Dartmouth skiing alums—
Sophie Caldwell and
Ida Sargent—made their PyeongChang debuts in cross-country skiing in the sprint classic. Caldwell fared well, placing 12th in qualifying with a time of 3:17.06, improving to 3:12.39 during the quarterfinal round and peaking at 3:11.32 in the semifinals. She finished eighth—.18 seconds away from qualifying for the event final. Sargent was eliminated after finishing 33rd with a time of 3:25.80 in qualifying.
