One of five 2,000-point scorers in Ivy League history, Ryan Wittman is the most prolific scorer to wear a Big Red uniform, tallying 2,028 points in his four-year career in Ithaca. During that stint, Wittman led Cornell to three Ivy League titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Paramount among those was the twelfth-seeded Big Red’s storybook run to the 2010 Sweet 16 with upsets of fifth-seeded Temple, 78-65, and fourth-seeded Wisconsin, 87-69.
Wittman bookended his career with Ivy League Rookie of the Year (2006-07) and Player of the Year (2009-10) nods, while reaping First Team All-Ivy accolades as a sophomore, junior and senior. He was also a two-time Academic All-Ivy selection and garnered Associated Press (AP) All-America Honorable Mention as a senior in 2009-10. He still holds the Cornell and Ivy League records for three-point field goals in a season (109) and a career (377) and was named to collegeinsider.com’s Mid-Major All-Decade Team.
After graduating from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in applied economics and management in 2010, Wittman pursued a professional basketball career in Europe and with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Development League. He earned his master’s degree in business administration from Boston College in 2015, while serving as a men’s basketball graduate assistant coach and is now an associate at Brook Venture Partners in Boston, Massachusetts.
