Rhonda Anderson, Cornell

Thirty-five years after she last slipped on a Big Red uniform, Rhonda Anderson’s name still dots the Big Red record books. She maintains Cornell top-five career scoring (13.8) and rebounding (9.5) averages, while boasting 1,105 career points and 762 career rebounds. Anderson was Cornell’s first-ever 1,000-point scorer, achieving the feat prior to the institution of the three-point shot.

The two-time Big Red captain garnered First Team All-Ivy recognition as a senior in 1982-83 and was named the Cornell Sun Athlete of the Year—the first woman to achieve that honor. During her four-year career in Ithaca, Anderson set 19 school scoring and rebounding records.

Anderson graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in communications in 1983 and would go on to earn her master’s degree in business administration at Penn State University. She currently serves as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, following a nearly five-year stint as the president and chief executive officer of The Community YMCA of Red Bank, New Jersey.
