Garry Munson, Cornell

One of Cornell’s all-time great rebounders, Garry Munson ranks among the top 10 all-time for the Big Red with 645 from 1963-66. He scored 725 points in his three varsity campaigns, including a 35-point effort against Colgate during his junior season that still ranks among the top 15 single-game scoring outputs in Cornell history. A three-year letterwinner, his teams went 49-24 overall and 30-12 in Ivy League play—the greatest three-year stretch in Cornell history for more than 40 years. Munson earned second-team All-Ivy honors as a senior and led the team in boards in each of his final two seasons.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, Munson went on to attain a MBA in finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. He currently serves as the President and Principal of Whitney Capital Company, L.L.C., where he is responsible for the real estate development and acquisition activity, as well as property management supervision.

Munson has also stayed involved in the college basketball community as a member of the Coaches vs. Cancer Council, which also includes some of the best-known and most successful men’s basketball coaches in the nation. Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches, which leverages the personal experiences, community leadership and professional excellence of coaches to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities and advocacy programs.
